Anita Khandelwal is a trial and appellate litigator whose work is informed by her background in public service.
Anita Khandelwal advises public and private clients and represents them in trial and appellate litigation in state and federal courts.
Anita brings a strong public interest background to her legal practice. Before joining Pacifica, Anita was the Director of the King County Department of Public Defense. There, she led a department of over 400 staff and navigated complex employment and labor issues, in addition to advocating for criminal justice reform. She also previously served as a federal defender.
Her labor and employment experience includes collective bargaining, employee discipline, responding to and negotiating settlements related to grievances, and conducting and overseeing internal investigations. She has also engaged extensively with the reasonable accommodation process, and has designed hiring practices aimed at recruiting employees with lived experience of oppression.
After law school, she clerked on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Western District of Texas.
In her free time, Anita enjoys cooking and taking long hikes.
